Beauty Brite Disclosure

Do you really know what’s in your beauty products? Have you ever wondered what those ingredients actually are? If like me, you are concerned about what you’re putting on your skin, it might be time to join the clean beauty revolution.

Clean beauty is more than simply switching to all-natural products. It’s about using ingredients that are safer for your skin and body, whether they’re man-made or natural. In most cases, this translates to cruelty-free products which don’t contain parabens, phthalates, sulfates, silicones, and synthetic fragrances.

Thankfully, more brands are taking part in this revolution, including Lather, Au Naturale, and Sealand Cosmetics.

The Clean Beauty of Lather

Clean Beauty Lather

Founded on the principle of helping people live healthier, more radiant lives, Lather is all about using only the best, most unique natural ingredients available. The brand creates skin and hair products free of synthetic fragrance, parabens, color, sulfates, mineral oil and animal testing.

Since I’d heard great things about Lather bath and body products, I opted to try their vegan Bamboo Lemongrass Foaming Body Scrub and Body Crème.

The Foaming Body Scrub has to be one of the most unique scrubs I’ve ever tried. The best way I can describe the texture is like wet sand from the beach. I believe this is due to the use of powdered bamboo and walnut. The small particles aren’t irritating to the skin and do an amazing job of exfoliation. I also appreciate how the formula turns into a creamy foam, which helps to clean and hydrate my skin. I can’t say enough good things about the Foaming Body Scrub. It’s like a special treat for my dry, sensitive skin.

After I use the scrub, I like to indulge in some extra hydration with the Bamboo Lemongrass Body Crème. My skin loves the combination of bamboo extract, aloe vera, shea butter, jojoba, and sweet almond oils. They help hydrate my dry skin and leave it feeling soft and rejuvenated. I also enjoy the natural scent of lemongrass, juniper, and geranium essential oils. It can be a little overpowering at first, but it does leave my skin smelling clean and fresh.

Both items have become staples in my shower routine, and I look forward to trying more of what Lather has to offer.

Sealand Cosmetics

Next, I tried products from the small indie brand known as Sealand Cosmetics. Like Lather, Sealand Cosmetics are created and manufactured in the USA. This clean beauty brand gets their name from the natural, unrefined Dead Sea Salt they use in their products. The salts, along with their other natural, vegan ingredients help to provide hydration while also detoxifying the skin.

The brand was kind of enough to send me their Roll-on Natural Deodorant (Tangerine & Bergamot Oil) and Vegan Lip Soother (Peppermint) to try. As someone who’s been using natural deodorants for many years, I’m always on the lookout for new formulations. I keep multiple deodorants on rotation, as I find this technique is most effective for keeping odor under control.

Clean Beauty Sealand Cosmetics Roll-On Deodorant

Sealand’s deodorant uses dead sea salt, aloe vera, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, and other essential oils to help neutralize odor. It’s also baking soda free, so it won’t irritate sensitive skin. The deodorant is clear and features as roll-on design, which makes application easy.

Because I live in a very hot, humid climate, I did have some issues with the Sealand Deodorant. As long as I wasn’t doing anything too strenuous or spending too much time outdoors, I stayed clean and fresh.

In addition to being a clean beauty, deodorant junkie, I also like to collect lip balm. It wasn’t hard to become an instant fan of Sealand’s Vegan Lip Soother. Formulated with candelilla wax, shea butter, coconut, sweet almond, avocado, and tea tree oils, the balm is extremely hydrating. I like to apply it as part of my nighttime skincare routine, so I wake up with moisturized lips.

Au Naturale

Next up, we have clean beauty from Au Naturale. If you’re not familiar with Au Naturale, this US-based company is credited with starting the Clean Beauty Revolution. The brand was founded by former nuclear analyst Ashley Prange, who wanted to be able to wear makeup without it irritating her skin. After years of experimenting at home with her coffee grinder, Au Naturale was born.

Though this brand is not new to me, I had only tried sample versions of their products. I’m so glad to have full-size versions of their blush, concealer, and lipstick, with are all formulated without animal bi-products, synthetic preservatives, nano particles, gluten, parabens, fillers or toxins.

Let’s start with the Completely Covered Crème Concealer in Ecru. This vegan stick concealer is formulated with pure pigments and organic oils. To say I’m in love with this concealer would be an understatement. It’s pure perfection. The color suits my skin extremely well, the creamy formulation blends in effortlessly, and the lasting power is incredible.

Up next is the Anywhere Crème Multistick in Destiny (melon peach with subtle luminosity). You can use this creamy formula to deliver rich pigmentation to your lips, cheeks, and eyes. I can’t get enough of this vegan multistick. I want all the colors. I love how I can build up the color or create a nice, natural flush.

Finally, we have the Eternity Lipstick in Primrose (a warm soft pink with subtle luminosity). At first, I wasn’t a huge fan of the formulation. It was a bit hard to apply and felt a tad dry. After several applications, the formula felt creamier. I also found that using a lip balm first makes application even easier. I am curious to try some of the other lipsticks in the collection, as I really like the way Primose looks on my skin tone.
