My Current Summer Routine

It’s summer and this is the time when less is more for me. I try to log off the internet a lot earlier, exercise a little more, less makeup, and more going out and spending time with family and friends. We all like to change things up for the summer, and this is what I’ve been doing and so far it’s been amazing.

Beauty Routine

For my hair and makeup I pull it up in a tight pony tail or “old lady bun†and that’s it. No fuss. A new brush I’ve been using is the Infiniti Pro by Conair. It gets all my knots out completely pain-free. To keep my hair up I’m using the Scunci Fit Girl Club. They keep my pony tail on tight, doesn’t matter if I’m running errands, at work, or doing an intense workout at the gym.

For makeup, I keep it simple. I use my Senna primer to even out my skin tone, two eye shadows, some blush, and bronzer. And, of course, my current mascara. My lip product of choice will change by the day depending on my mood or what I have going on that day. Since it’s summer, it’s typically a lip balm or tint. It fits perfectly in my purse and I don’t have to mess with it throughout the day.

For accessories, it’s simple… bracelets. When I’m going out at night with friends, I’ll add a necklace or two, and maybe some rings. But typically it’s just a bracelet. Right now I’m sporting the Beach Life Bracelets from O Yeah! I have the Spring Bracelet ($14.99), which was made of seed and glass beads in natural colors. They really can go with just about any casual outfit. These are cute jewelry pieces that you can mix and match with other items that you have. This is one of those types of bracelets that you pull out to stretch the bracelet and pull in to tighten it up.

When I want to dress it up a bit, I’ll wear my bracelet and necklace from fools gold. The designs this site offers is amazing and unique. My favorite is the AMULET ($68). It’s a long brass lariat necklace that has a natural brass chain that allows you to adjust for a long or short look. I own a lot of necklaces, but nothing like this. I’ve gotten quite a few compliments while wearing it. For the bracelet, I stepped outside my comfort zone a little with the CHARMER ($56), a linked bracelet. The link bracelet is made of wood with amazingly intricate cutouts and an adjustable clasp.

Less Internet, More Reading

One of my biggest goals this summer is to read more. I couldn’t tell you how many books I used to own. It’s time to get off the internet at a decent time and read a couple chapters each night. Right now I’m reading Sofia Grant’s The Dress in the Window. It’s a fun book about two sisters, Jeanne and Peggy, who had to go through the tragedies of the war offered. Even though their pasts have been dark, they’re hoping for a brighter future with Jeanne creating gorgeous dresses for their clients, and Peggy helping with her brilliant sketches. Thanks to their fashion, they’re experiencing a better life than they’d ever imagined. No book is complete without a little conflict. Peggy is looking to make her own mark. Of course, they’re going to learn that the future always has its surprises. Surprises that could make or break their dreams.

Summer has been amazing since switching things up a bit that I may even continue this trend into the fall and winter seasons. What is your current summer routine?
