There are many benefits of the coconut oil when it comes to hair care routine. It keeps your scalp healthy, promotes new hair growth, hydrates dry hair, and unclogs the pores. This makes your hair shiny & manageable, prevents dandruff and other conditions by fighting the bacteria and fungi. It also keeps your hair protected from the sun rays which can cause some damage to it.

Coconut oil repairs damaged hair

Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer that penetrates deep into the hair shaft to help repair damage. It deeply conditions your hair and hydrates it without leaving any greasy residue. This makes your hair smooth, shiny, stronger, and healthier. Vitamin E present in coconut oil also helps in increasing the elasticity of the hair which prevents breakage.

Coconut oil also prevents split ends and frizziness. It tames the unruly hair and adds a shimmering look to your hair. I wish I knew this when we lived in Northern Nevada. My hair used to get so dry and frizzy! I would carry a dryer sheet around just to help tame my hair. Had I known about coconut oil, I would just need a small dab to work through my hair!

Healthy looking hair with Coconut oil

Apply coconut oil to wet or dry hair for healthy looking locks. Just warm up a small amount of coconut oil in the palms of your hands and work through hair from root to tip. Be sure to use it sparingly, as too much can leave hair feeling greasy, so just put a dab on one hand and apply to sections of damp or dry hair at a time. If you have short hair, start with a half-dollar size amount. If your hair is long, use two to three times that much.

Coconut oil can deep condition hair

Leave it in as a conditioner overnight, or use as a leave-in treatment during the day. This is a great way to make dry hair soft and lustrous. Work it in from root to tip, being sure to coat each strand completely, then put your hair up in a loose bun or ponytail. If you have long hair, tie it into two braids for the night before washing out in the morning.

Since I shower in the evening, I like to do this on the weekends. I apply the coconut oil in my hair in the morning and wash it out in the evening. If you’re short on time, applying a few hours before showering or at least an hour before showering.
