A Meal Delivery Subscription with Kids in Mind

A Meal Delivery Subscription with Kids in Mind
Beauty Brite Disclosure

As a Mom of 4, I have so much on my plate. Figuratively of course. Often I find myself wondering after the kids have gone to bed if I am doing enough for them? One of my biggest doubts is their diets. I find myself just rushing to the most convenient items, which let’s be honest, is macaroni and cheese and fast food. Not the best meals at all for them. Recently I came across a Meal Delivery Service with Kids in mind. Including picky eaters. Now I can order healthy meals for the week, in advance, and have peace of mind that I am checking one of the mom-guilts off of my list.

Meal planning is hard in general, even more so when juggling school, the kids’ appointments, and everything that day to day life entails. I find myself constantly scouring the internet trying to find new, healthy recipes I can incorporate into my kid’s diets that kind of coincide with foods that already like but honestly, it’s overwhelming. Not to mention buying ALL of the supplies to make the meal and then crossing my fingers in hopes they actually even like the food I just spent all this time researching, buying supplies for, and then cooking. I know I can’t be alone in feeling like this.

Nurture Life is a pediatric dietician approved meal delivery service, that provides meals for babies, toddlers, AND older children too! So now my weekly meal planning is as simple as logging onto my account, picking meals to coincide with the days I know I am going to be the busiest and submitting my order before the cut off date. I can also take care of all 4 of my children’s needs without the hassle of needed to go through multiple providers for meals. I can order for my two-year-old, three-year-old, five-year-old, and even my almost six-year-old with no issues at all!

The meals made for each age group are in a quantity to coincide with that age group as well as a texture to match that age group. For my first shipment, I ordered for my 3-year-old and my soon to be 6-year-old. Just to get a feel for Nurture Life before going all in investment-wise. The portions were larger for my older child than my three-year-old as expected.

Meal Delivery Subscription

Each week they release a list of meals you can choose – this is not the meal you will receive that same week of course. It is a subscription service so you do have to pick your meals in advance. They have set cut off dates. You will need to pay attention to the cut-off dates on your account to receive meals by the week you need them as well as the cut-off date to change the meals you would like or quantities you need for that week. Their customer service is extremely helpful though so feel free to reach out to them if you have any issues with any questions. They were there to answer ALL of my questions and gave me confidence in my choice with using them when it comes to feeding my children with confidence.

My oldest child also has food allergies. This is one thing we have been dealing with for several years now and he is an odd case in the fact that instead of allergies going away with age, his have increased with age. At age 4 he had 5 allergies. At age 5, his list grew to 30. Mostly being outdoors but 10 being food-related. My youngest son also has food allergies and his result is horrible eczema flare-ups that take weeks to clear back up. I will say that Nurture Life food labels are very thorough in regards to what ingredients are in each dish. Even the labels on the actual packages that are shipped to you are extremely thorough about what ingredients are found in each package.

Nurture Life meals are all peanut, tree nut (except coconut) and shellfish-free. Their other dishes are labeled as milk-free, vegan, vegetarian, egg-free, fish-free, soy-free, gluten-free, etc. The 8 major allergens are labeled on their website with their dishes. My only wish is that you could put which allergens your child has so you could weed out dishes that have these ingredients entirely. Otherwise, their selection of dishes is phenomenal. Even for an allergy child.

Picky Eaters

Because allergies aren’t enough for my oldest, he also has sensory-related aversions when it comes to foods. Ha! Good times! If you do not know what this means, it means that certain textures can be really offputting for him when it comes to foods. Even if he likes the taste, the texture can instantaneously ruin the entire meal for him and leave undesired reactions. I won’t go into detail on that. But surprisingly, Nurture Life was able to sneak a few healthy ingredients into his favorite dish without any aversion. His favorite dish was the Cauliflower Macaroni and Cheese!

Shipping Quality

If you’re wondering about the quality of the food being shipped, do not worry! I was kind of iffy too. Like shipping food? Ick. I don’t know about the integrity of that. But no worries. Nurture Life meal delivery for kids seriously goes above and beyond with their shipping methods! My shipments are always still completely frozen despite several days in transit and the ice packs sent with my package are still solid too!

What meal prep tricks do you have when it comes to your children’s meals?
