I Have Strep Throat

I had my doctor’s appointment yesterday. I made this appointment about 3 weeks ago because at the time, I was sick in January and had a cough for 3 weeks! Not only that, my asthma was bothering me! After explaining my symptoms, the nurse started examining me and she knew immediately I have strep throat!

It’s been a rough few weeks. I’m trying to juggle two college classes, dealing with us being sick, and managing my blogs. I try to complete my school work early in the week so I have the rest of the week to relax.

I love blogging. I do my best to manage my time with writing too.
My son has been sick off and on for over a week! I kept him home for 2 days last week. I also kept him home yesterday.

All morning, I contemplated cancelling my doctor’s appointment. I waited 3 weeks too! Now that I know I have strep throat, I am so glad I didn’t cancel!

Since I kept my son home, I knew I couldn’t leave him home alone. Since I am a single parent with no help from his dad, I had to take him with me! Thankfully, my appointment was super quick! 

The medical assistant took my temperature and my blood pressure. The nurse assessed my symptoms, listened to my breathing, and then checked my throat. Right then and there, she knew right away! 

I have strep throat.

She prescribed me penicillin! It only took my pharmacy a few hours to fill my prescription! I debated whether to pick it up last night or wait until the next morning. 

I ended up picking it up about 30 minutes after they called me to let me know my prescription was ready! I have to take the antibiotics for 10 days, two times a day! 

I have never had strep throat before! Have you? 

When we got home, I checked the back of my throat and I saw what the nurse saw too! I was worried that my son has strep throat too, so I checked his throat when we got home. It doesn’t appear he has strep throat!

I think my son has a cold that just won’t go away or keeps going around!

At the doctor’s office, I was amazed at how diligent they are with preventing the spread of germs and illnesses especially with the Coronavirus going around. They encouraged people to use hand sanitizer!

 I am thankful I was able to get in to see the nurse right away and get out of there quickly. We did have to wait about 45 minutes for our ride home.

I have strep throat for the first time in my life. I started my 10 days of antibiotics! I did let my guy know. Thankfully, it sounds like he doesn’t have it! I am also relieved my son doesn’t seem to have it either! He would never take the antibiotics. I would have to get creative and crush the pills and put them in his food and drinks!
