Beauty Brite Disclosure

For years, when I was in grade school, my family lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I loved having all the seafood and the taste of the Gulf at our fingertips. Po Boys, crab, shrimp, and crab boils are all good eats to me.

The thing that I miss the most not being near the Gulf Coast is the desserts. I miss the real Key Lime Pie with Grand Marnier whipped cream that is made fresh in so many local places there. Another dessert that I love to indulge in when I am in Florida is Banana pudding with Nilla Wafers. I am not sure what it is that makes the banana pudding so good when I am visiting the Gulf Coast area, but it is a favorite of the whole family.

LuLu's Kitchen Taste Of The Gulf Cook Book by Lucy Buffett

Included in LuLu’s Kitchen: A Taste of the Gulf Coast Good Life, authored by Lucy Buffett (sister chef of Jimmy Buffett) you will find recipes that have been passed down through the Buffett family. I have never had the pleasure of dining at LuLu’s Buffet Restaurant in Florida. But one day I’d really like to go. In the meantime, however, Iam able to cook the same food from the restaurant right here at my home in Arizona.

Delicious dishes like the following items that are on the restaurant menu:
Chicken fingers-Grilled
Chicken Fingers-Fried
Fried Okra
L.A. Caviar
Fried Green Tomatoes BLT
Crab Melt

These are just a few of the items that are on the menu at the restaurant, and thankfully the corresponding recipes are found in the book! How great would owning this cookbook be for anyone who loves the restaurant’s most famous dishes?

I am so excited that I can now make some of these delicious recipes here at my home, my first attempt being the Key Lime Pie With Grand Marnier Whipped Cream. I also love eating Fried Okra so I am looking forward to how this recipe will taste. I have tried fried okra in many eating establishments with mixed success, in my opinion. Sometimes they are great, but other times the okra has seemed too chewy instead of crisp. I’m hoping that by trying out the recipe from this book at home I can make sure that this does not happen, and that I can achieve the perfection of a crisp okra dish.

I love that the book has so many different types of recipes in it. From specialty drinks and starters to main courses and desserts. Being able to have a taste of the Gulf will get you in a gulf coast mood and allow you to eat your way to a taste of the good life.
