Time Doesn’t Slow Down

Time wont slow down

No matter how badly we want to stop it, time still creeps on. Like a vine of ivy slowly snakes its leaves over and around all things. Before we know it you blink and your baby is no longer a baby. As a mom of four, time is hitting a lot harder these days. I’m slowly coming to terms with the fact that my kids are growing up.

Time doesnt slow down

Time Slow Down!

This past week I celebrated my youngest daughter’s fifth birthday. I can’t believe that my last baby is no longer a baby. She’s been a firecracker since she was born, she tried to come at 35 weeks and they stopped my labor. Well, that just made her mad so she decided to be 3 days late. And that has been her personality ever since. Are you wondering what toy has her smiling from ear to ear? It’s the awesome Geomag Glow Set. Made from 100% recycled plastic this magnet set brings imagination to the front and center! Who doesn’t love a toy that glows in the dark?

Sometimes I start to think about how fast time passes because now my oldest daughter is taller than me and isn’t even done growing yet. As a parent when you think about the last time things you don’t even realize will be last-time moments. Like the last time you pick up your child, and one day you turn around and their tiny body is now bigger than you. Or when that precious little mama turns into mommy.

Tiny first steps turn into running into kindergarten without looking back. From a first tooth coming in, to the first visit to the tooth fairy. From being a tiny shadow under your feet constantly to being replaced with friends. Time is such a thief. I’d always have people I knew say, “Just wait until you have kids, time moves even faster.”

I don’t think life can ever prepare you for just how fast time flies by. I mean it’s already been 6 years since the accident that could have easily killed our whole family. But just in that 6 years, we have made so many amazing changes. Have there been struggles? Absolutely! Have there been days that felt like they would never end? Also yes. But would I change where life has led me? I can say with most certainty, no. My kids are absolutely thriving. And while time feels like a thief most days, I wouldn’t trade those days for anything.

So just remember before you know it, those sleepless nights will end. And those tiny fingers that are wrapped around your hand won’t need you quite as much. As those tiny baby cries turn into big kids that can hold a whole conversation. Time isn’t slowing, so embrace the now, and look to the future.
