Our New Dog Is Home

We picked up our newly adopted dog yesterday afternoon. My son has ABA Therapy every weekday for two and a half hours. As soon as his therapy was done, we quickly cleaned up and headed over to bring her home.

Our new dog is home!

We arrived a bit earlier, but we were able to pick her up and take her home. She just wanted to rest in my arms and on my lap on the way home. 

When we got home, I set up a soft blanket on the floor and put her on it to rest. I’m still waiting for her dog bed to arrive. 

It was a nice quiet evening as she just wanted to rest.

First morning

This morning, she seemed a bit more alert. She was super loving and just wanted attention. We went outside so she could go potty. 

She followed me around a bit but eventually got tired and wanted to lay down.

Taking care of her, I feel like I have a brand new infant in the home. I can tell I have to be her protector from her brother. I’m worried he will be too rough with her. With time, he will understand to be gentle and loving with her. I am also my son’s protector, so I’m protecting both of them in different ways! 

It’s official 

I updated her microchip information online. The shelter named her Kisses. Since I changed her name to Freya, I updated that information on the account. I also purchased a pet license with the city! So, everything is official! 

I still need to make an appointment with the vet! 

Pet messes

She did make a mess on my bed. I wash my bedding on Fridays anyway! This just forced me to wash my bedding earlier in the morning than usual. Accidents like this reminds me how thankful I am to have my own washer and dryer in my home! 

My son and I had to go to the store. Since she was so tired, I didn’t put her in her crate. Well, we came home to an accident. I tried cleaning it up with paper towels and natural cleaning solution but I wanted a deeper clean! 

I pulled out my carpet shampooer. I love this machine but it is huge and heavy! Since I had it out cleaning, I figured I would clean the rest of our home.

Well, the machine broke!

Originally I was going to try to buy a replacement part, but it seemed like too much work.

I found a carpet cleaner at Target. I like that it is lightweight and looks easier to maneuver! My last carpet shampooer was so difficult for me to use!
