Deep Clean Your Windows And Blinds

This past weekend was a three day weekend.  On my way to meet my guy for lunch on Friday, my Uber driver asked if I had plans for the weekend. At the time, I told him I didn’t! When I got home, I decided I would clean my windows. I’m excited to share with you how to deep clean your windows!

As a homeowner, it’s fun to think about all the upgrades in my home that I would love to make! I started thinking about my windows. I thought about the possibility of replacing my blinds.

I also considered the idea of replacing the windows. However, since I’m on a budget, I decided to clean my blinds and windows instead.

We have 4 windows: each of our bedrooms have a window, our dining room has a beautiful big window, and we have a sliding glass door that leads to our balcony.

I appreciate our big windows because it really brings in natural light during the day!

I like to keep my cleaning simple. I prefer to use basic cleaning methods that are green-friendly. I don’t need scented cleaning and laundry products. I prefer simple ingredients.

Homemade Window and Blinds Cleaner

Ingredients:

Baking Soda

White Vinegar

Hot Water

Spray Bottle

Paper Towels, cleaning cloth, or microfiber cloths

Directions:

Add baking soda to your spray bottle. I didn’t really measure. If needed, start with 1 tbsp.

Add white vinegar to your spray bottle. Pour slowly because the mixture will start foaming and bubbling. I didn’t measure, so add as much or little as needed.

Add hot water to your spray bottle. Again, I didn’t measure. Add as little or as much as you’d like. For each batch I made, I only made about 8 oz or less of cleaning solution at a time.

After making your window and blinds cleaner, grab your step stool if needed. You may want to put an old towel below the window to catch any drippings, dust, and such.

Close your blinds and spray them until they are evenly coated.

Take your paper towels, cleaning cloths, or microfiber cloths and slowly clean your blinds. I ended up cleaning both sides of my blinds.

After cleaning my blinds, I also cleaned the edges and ledges as much as I could.

I chose to use paper towels just because my windows haven’t been cleaned in a long time. As you can imagine, there was a lot of dirt, dust, and other yucky stuff. My paper towels were brown and black!

Lastly, I sprayed the windows with the window and blinds cleaner and used paper towels to wipe them down. My windows were filthy!

I love that my windows and blinds are clean! Making the cleaning solution is super easy too! You may already have each ingredient in your kitchen or pantry!

Hopefully my houseplants will benefit to the clean windows with more light!

Vinegar is a great disinfectant. I use vinegar instead of bleach when I wash my laundry. I’ll definitely be using this recipe for spring cleaning!
