Online and Offline Communication

Online and Offline Communication

Do you communicate more with people online or offline?

When I am out and about, I really don’t like to talk to people especially when I am with my son. What I had to take the train, I realized how awkward it is for me to have a conversation with complete strangers. It could have been the situation too. Who eats with complete strangers? Plus, I was with my son at the time and when he is with me, I have to focus on him and not a conversation!

I prefer to communicate with people online! It is quicker and I can have several conversations at once. I can also check and respond to emails! In other words, I can multi-task when communicating online.

I also prefer communicating online because I really dislike talking on the phone. I don’t mind talking on the phone if it is a job. I have had previous jobs as a hotel operator, administrative assistant and office assistant. All three positions required me to talk on the phone, which I have no problem with. However, when I am at home, I dislike talking on the phone.

While I prefer not to converse with complete strangers, I don’t mind a little small talk. I am very friendly but in group settings, I am very shy and an introvert. If know people, I will gravitate towards them! I do love meeting people and making new friends. I am just not the greatest in social situations.

On any given day, I communicate with people online rather than offline. The only people I really talk to offline are my husband and son. When my husband is getting ready for work, that seems to be the only time we can have a conversation and even then, that isn’t very long. When we do converse, I make the effort to take a break from working.
