Finally Getting It Right With Keto

How did Keto change my life? I want to share my story of how I went from weighing over 300lbs to loosing 127lbs in 16 months.

How It All Started

About 15 years ago, my life changed. I had my first born, my beautiful Emilia. Over the next few years my family grew and I gave birth to a handsome baby boy named Noah and spunky little man named Caleb. I worked as a full-time Spanish teacher, took care of my home, my family and pretty much took it all on; I was always busy.

I was everywhere and focused on everything but myself. I pushed through health scares, battled depression, until finally my body couldn’t take it anymore. In 2014 my thyroid flipped (I have Hashimotos). It caused a thyroid storm triggering a whole new set of health issues including a neurological movement disorder called functional dystonia. I was a mess. I lost 80lbs in less than 4 months, my hair fell out in clumps and my body would horribly seize and contort causing muscle tears and sprains.

For the first time in my life, people had to take care of me, and it made me feel worse. After leaving my career, enduring steroid treatments, IV fusions, therapy, and tons of medications; things were looking better. By late 2019, I hadn’t had a dystonic attack in almost 7 months; I was happy, but I also was tipping the scales at 307lbs. Not only did I gain back the 80lbs that I lost when I was ill, but I also packed on an additional 40 pounds! Now that my neuro and autoimmune issues were finally under control after 5 long years, I had a new battle, class III morbid obesity. I couldn’t let this be the end-all after my 5 year battle getting my health stable.

Tools That Helped Me

My primary care physician was incredible. She knew what I’ve been through, and saw the path I was heading towards. With all my health issues under my belt and now a class III morbid obesity, she told me I wouldn’t live past my 50’s. The idea of not living long enough to see my children grow and meet my grandchildren one day lit a fire in me.

Weight Loss Progress

I decided to seek help with medically assisted weight loss (Medi Weight Loss). With the help of a doctor, nutritionist and therapist; I learned about food and my addiction to sugar & carbs. They had me follow a keto diet and set me up for success with their accountability appointments 2x a week. This was by far the hardest thing I have ever done. By August of 2020, I weighed in at 254 pounds. I was ready to take on strict Keto, continue my calorie deficit as planned, and add intermittent fasting. This meant my food choices were a lot smaller, so I needed supplements to help keep my calorie count at 1200 cal/day.

I felt I have tried every single supplement on the market. Nothing was satisfying, but I choked it down daily because I needed to.

Three weeks ago a supplement company called Naked Nutrition crossed my path. Their Naked Keto Fat Bomb intrigued me, and I am so happy that I gave them a try.

Where I Am Today

Today, I am currently weighing in at 180 pounds after 16 long months. For the first time in my life I am excited to see my doctor. I am anxious to see my new blood work results.

I still have 30 more pounds left to loose, and this last push may be the hardest one yet. But with the right tools and support, you can do just about anything.
