DIY Beauty Products with Household Food Items

DIY Beauty
Beauty Brite Disclosure

I enjoy a good spa day and treating myself with DIY beauty products. I am known for frequenting the nail salon and taking long, hot bubble baths. What I don’t love are high prices and harmful chemicals.

Carrington Farms has products that are safe for consumption and DIY Beauty Products! From Chia seeds to Coconut Oil and everything in-between, they have exactly what you need for an at home spa day.

I went to their website and used their recommended recipes for a face mask and bath bomb. Both were perfect and easy to follow. I highly recommend you give it a try!

Matcha Face Mask

  1. In a small mixing bowl, add all ingredients, whisk to combine.
  2. Using a soft, clean brush apply mixture to a clean, dry face.
  3. Leave on for 20 to 30 minutes.
  4. Rinse well and pat dry

Bath Bombs with Coconut Oil

easy bath bomb

  • 8 ounces Baking Soda
  • 4 ounces Citric Acid
  • 1/2 cup Epsom Salt
  • 4 ounces Cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons of Carrington Farms Organic Coconut Oil
  • 2 teaspoons witch hazel (or water) plus a little more if needed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 30 drops of your favorite essential oil (we used lavender and peppermint)

BONUS – add dried lavender or dried flowers to improve the mood or add calming effects

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl and mix well until combined.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the Carrington Farms Organic Coconut Oil, witch hazel and vanilla extract and stir well. Add essential oils if using.
  3. Add the liquid ingredients to the dry ingredients a few drops at a time. Mix well with hands (wear gloves if you have sensitive skin). Add powdered dried herbs if using.
  4. Mixture should hold together when squeezed without crumbling. You may need to add slightly more witch hazel if it hasn’t achieved this consistency yet. I recommend using a spray bottle with additional liquid to evenly add.
  5. Quickly push mixture into molds. Press in firmly and leave at least 24 hours (48 is better) or until hardened. It will expand some and this is normal. You can push it down into the mold several times while it is drying to keep it from expanding to much. Using metal molds will create a stronger and more effective final bath bomb.
  6. When dry, remove and store in air tight container or bag. Use within 2 weeks.

There are many ways to incorporate Carrington Farms products into meals. Replace Chia Seeds for fats! See their other recipes!
